MONDAY
You all know A Christmas Carol, but have you ever seen One Christmas Carol, a reimagined one-actor show? Multi-award-winning Alberta performer Natascha Girgis plays 35 (!) characters, switching from Ebenezer Scrooge to Bob Cratchit to Tiny Tim right in front of you. The show opens Monday at StoryBook Theatre and runs through December.
TUESDAY
Every Tuesday is bingo night at Calgary’s favourite watering hole. This week, head to The Ship and Anchor for Punk Rock Bingo, hosted by Darren Ollinger with DJ RO-B1 spinning the power-chord anthems. It runs 7–11 p.m., with Good Times and sweet prizes, all for free. Hard to argue with that.
WEDNESDAY
Skate and shop at the Calgary Farmers’ Market from 4 to 9 p.m. Enjoy modern Christmas market energy, local vendors, vintage-style photo moments, festive cocktails, with a roller rink (not the ice one) set up inside The Loft collecting donations for the Trellis Society.
THURSDAY
Sink into the nostalgia of Charlie Brown tunes on Thursday. The Claire Butler Trio performs Vince Guaraldi classics, including Linus and Lucy, Christmas Time Is Here, and The Little Drummer Boy, at the Engineered Air Theatre. There are two shows at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25 over at werklundcentre.ca.
FRIDAY
Friday turns into a full-throttle party with Spark After Dark: Greatest Hits. It’s the ultimate 2025 mash-up of this year’s crowd-pleasers, like February’s Guilty Pleasures, April’s Foodology, June’s Beyond the Rainbow, and more. Expect cabaret sets, live acoustic performances, vendors, workshops, food, and more. Tickets are $33, which is not bad for 6 hours of mayhem.
SATURDAY
Explore the cosmos at Found in Space, a free event connecting space science to everyday life. Hear TED-style talks with astronaut and University of Calgary alumnus Dr. Robert Thirsk and space scientist Dr. Emma Spanswick, then dive into exhibits and hands-on activities. It starts at 1:30 p.m. at the EEEL Building at UCalgary.
SUNDAY
Join the King Eddy for Jam Club, a showcase featuring young musicians from the National Music Centre’s after-school program. It’s free and starts at 3 p.m. — an easy way to support emerging talent.
