WEDNESDAY
Gather your music-loving friends together on Wednesday for Mixtape Music Trivia over at Dickens, hosted by Talespin Trivia. The theme of this trivia night is “party jams,” so put on your dancing shoes so you can shake it between questions. Teams can have up to six people, and its $5 per person, paid at the door.
THURSDAY
If you aren’t already sick of eating pancakes, head over to Contemporary Calgary Thursday morning and try out some of their “artful” pancakes. Local artist Erik Olsen brings his artistic talents to the griddle and creates some creatively shaped pancakes. Along with breakfast, the gallery has free entry for the duration of the event, so head inside to check out Ghazaleh Avarzamani’s exhibition Churn, Earn, Burn and then Return, which features an on-theme butter sculpture!
FRIDAY
Take this year’s Stampede to the stars on Friday at Telus Spark’s new Spark After Dark night: Space Cowboys. This 18+ evening features local country music stars, line dancing and various hands-on activities like custom brand making, creating 3D printed alien ranch animals and space cyanotype printing. Like all Spark After Dark events, you’ll also get to snack and sip on themed food and beverages. Tickets are $36.95, available at sparkscience.ca
SATURDAY
Over at the East Village riverwalk plaza this Saturday you’ll find the Cuties Club Lucky Finds market. From 12pm to 6pm, shop local vendors selling all kinds of vintage, handmade and one-of-a-kind goods. It’s a great way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Stampede while still enjoying the sunshine.
SUNDAY
If you’re a nerd looking to make new friends in Calgary’s 2SLGBTQIA+ scene, then you can’t go wrong with Queer Calgary’s Queer Quests event this Sunday. This Dungeons & Dragons One Shot event takes place twice a month over at Sentry Box, where you can bond with others in Calgary’s queer community. Whether you have a character you’ve been playing for years or have never touched a D20 before, all are welcome.
