MONDAY

On Monday, head to the Plaza Theatre for a screening of the Telus original documentary Heard. This doc from filmmaker Brian Ceci looks at his own experience growing up Hard of Hearing and forming a community with other Hard of Hearing and Deaf individuals. Be sure to stick around to the end for the Q&A with Ceci following the film.

TUESDAY

Spend some time outdoors and give back to nature on Tuesday at the “Grow the Bow” eco-restoration event. Taking place on the sloping hills of Crescent Heights with a wicked view of the city skyline, you’ll pull invasive plants and replace them with native species. It’s free to go and all supplies are provided, so grab some friends for an evening a little out of the ordinary. Be sure to register ahead of time on eventbrite.ca

WEDNESDAY

Chamberfest West kicks off on Wednesday, so if you’re a classical music fan you are in luck. The theme of this year’s festival is “Continental Drifts,” and over the next five days you’ll find concerts that pull musical stylings from all around the world and from different times in history. Wednesday’s concert is called “Pangaea” and blends African classical music with Chinese storytelling and American minimalism.

THURSDAY

It’s Euphoria Cafe’s 17th anniversary on Thursday and they’re celebrating with an Evening Glow Market. From 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., jam out to a live DJ while shopping the stalls of local artisans for cool and unique finds, all while sipping on your favourite Euphoria Cafe drinks. You’ll also get to play plinko for the chance to win cool prizes.

FRIDAY

On Friday, head over to Congress Coffee to check out the third edition of local theatre and film company Wildflower Production’s Dear Diary sessions. The Dear Diary sessions feature local artists performing stories, monologues, poems and other performances all while you sip a nice cup of coffee. This session’s theme is “Love and Friendship” and you can grab tickets on eventbrite.ca for $20.

SATURDAY

The Alt Collective Art Market on Saturday is perfect for alternative folks of all kinds to find some handmade goods that are just a little unconventional. From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. hit up the streets of Inglewood for trinkets and doo-dads you won’t find anywhere else.

SUNDAY

If you’re a lover of mushrooms and mushroom-related art, then you’ll want to check out the Mush Love Art Exhibition on Sunday. From July 18 to July 26, the gallery is free and open to public viewing, showcasing all kinds of mushroom themed art pieces. In addition to the gallery, Mush Love is also holding a market on Sunday, and this time you’ll get to take some fungi finds home with you.
