This Wednesday is the fifth-anniversary edition of Trivia Killed the Radio Star at Dickens, a monthly music trivia event hosted by YYC Trivia. Admission is only 5 bucks, and rounds include Name That Song categories, general artist trivia, and funny minigames for a slew of prizes. With its underground bar and drink specials, Dickens is the perfect spot to cool off from the heat.

The Kensington Night Market is back this Thursday in a parking lot near Side Street Pub. This free event features live entertainment, local vendors, and numerous shopping opportunities. It’s the perfect way to enjoy an evening in one of Calgary’s trendiest neighbourhoods.

BUMP Festival 2024 is in full swing, with panels and mural tours happening all week. On Friday, the festival is hosting a public party at High Park on 10th Avenue that promises to be a great way to kick off the weekend. If you haven’t visited Calgary’s newest public rooftop park, now’s your chance!

If you want to keep soaking up those rays over the weekend, head to North Glenmore Park for the Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival. This exciting event combines dragon boat racing on the reservoir, traditional Chinese dancing and celebrations, food trucks, market vendors, and more. Admission is free, and the festival runs from Friday to Sunday.

If air conditioning and comic books appeal to you, make your way to the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Centre for YYCFanFair on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This mini-comic convention is an immersive experience featuring an array of vendors offering comics, toys, art, and more. This year’s celebrity guest is Tiffany Helm from the Friday the 13th movies, who will be meeting fans and signing autographs all day.

End the week at the Kings Head Pub with Confession Booth Comedy this Sunday. This free weekly open mic is hosted by Tarah Buchanan and Cory Harding and features Calgary locals and comics from all over North America. You can enjoy half-price pizza and happy hour all night, and if you stick around for the True Confessions Late Show at 9 p.m., you can tell a one-minute true confession of your own and get a free drink.
