MONDAY

Assemble your team of two to four of your most puzzle-obsessed friends to solve a 500 or 750-piece jigsaw puzzle first. Registration is $65 and includes four drink tickets for you and your friends.

TUESDAY

Whether you’re a poet yourself or an appreciator of the poetic arts, the Can You Hear Me Now? Poetry slam and open mic at Shelf Life Books is a great way to spend a Tuesday night. If you’ve got a poem to share, sign up on arrival before the event kicks off at 7 p.m. All ages and poetry styles are welcome.

WEDNESDAY

Every culture has their own dumpling, and you’ll get a veritable world tour of flavours on Wednesday at Dumpling Fest. From 5 to 9 p.m., participating restaurants will be serving up tasting platters, all included in the initial ticket price. Chinese soup dumplings, Mexican tamales, Indian kofta; world cuisine puts the definition of dumpling to the test, and you can try it all in four hours in Calgary.

THURSDAY

Did you know that April marks 150 years since the Indian Act was first signed? Dive into the history of the last century and a half – and enjoy some hot dogs while you’re at it. This edition of The Confluence’s “Hot Dogs and Hot Takes on History” lecture series is all about the laws, legislation, and policies made to control Canada’s Indigenous peoples. You’ll get to listen to an expert, ask questions, and enjoy a tasty snack, all for $15. Vegetarian options are also available.

FRIDAY

Congress Coffee Company is all about empowering artists, and nothing makes that more apparent than the cafe’s show Curio: A Kinky Talent Show and Open Mic. This safe and welcoming performance embraces artists however they wish to express themselves, whether that’s kink performance, music, comedy, or another artform. Take your talent to the stage by signing up at 6:30. Admission is $15, and performers are reimbursed their admission fee.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

Cuties Club has another Welcome Market this weekend over at North Hill Centre. These markets are a low cost way for new small businesses to make a name for themselves in the market scene. You’re guaranteed to find new, unique finds from local vendors you’ve never heard of before. Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and the Cuties market is a great way to support local and get ahead on your gift-buying.
