MONDAY
Get a sneak peak at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ during their special Labour Day preview. While there’s no horse jumping to watch, experience all the other fun activities the Masters have to offer, including live performances, interactive activities and exciting exhibitions like the beloved corgi and dachshund races. TUESDAY
Theatre Calgary’s 2026-27 season kicks off on Tuesday with First Metis Man of Odessa, a love story based on true events and set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. You can expect a show that is tender, thoughtful and unexpectedly uplifting. Tickets to the first preview performance start as low as $30.
WEDNESDAY
In collaboration with the City of Calgary Culture Days, FascinAsian Film Festival brings a special screening of The Wedding Banquet (2026) to the Patricia A. Whelan theatre in Central Library on Wednesday. A re-imagining of Ang Lee’s 1993 rom-com, The Wedding Banquet is filled with humour, heart and plenty of hilarious chaos. Best of all, the screening is free!
THURSDAY
On Thursday, head over to Establishment Brewing for the opening reception of the Wild Photography Exhibition. The exhibition displays the works of local photographers Myles Marleau, Ben Merrell, and Ryan Townsend. Live DJ Mr. Hezloop will be the soundtrack to your photography browsing, and you can sip a few samples of select Wild Things beers. Entry is free, and so are the booze samples.
FRIDAY
The Calgary Cinematheque will be hitting the suburbs with some surrealist, experimental and hallucinatory short films from the 1920s, accompanied by a live improvised score from the Wayne Garret Trio. On Friday, you can catch the screening at 7:00PM at the BMO Theatre inside of the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge.
SATURDAY
It’s a big weekend for cat lovers — this weekend, Contemporary Calgary will be hosting the annual Calgary Cat Festival and Market. Shop from local artisans, browse the booths of rescues and shelters and, if you have space in your home for a new friend, hit up the Adoption Alley to meet some cats looking for their forever home. If you love a good jigsaw puzzle, enter yourself and a friend into the Ravensburger Puzzle Contest, where you’ll compete with other puzzle aficionados to be the fastest to complete a 500-piece puzzle.
SUNDAY
Take a knee at the end of the week with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for Phil in the Park. This free concert takes place every year on Prince’s Island Park, where you’ll hear a vibrant soundtrack spanning classical compositions to showtunes and pop music. Grab a blanket and pack a picnic, or pre-order a picnic basket from the River Cafe just a hop, skip and a jump away.
