Monday

Calgary’s comedy scene welcomes Sheng Wang, Netflix star of Sweet & Juicy and HBO’s 2 Dope Queens. Hosted at The Bella Concert Hall from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., this clever and high-energy show will have you cracking up, courtesy of this experienced comedian. Tickets range from $50 to $73.

Tuesday

Tool Shed Brewing Company is celebrating bravery by honouring our first responders and raising awareness for both physical and mental health. This event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and features a selection of local brews, games, snacks, trivia, and, of course, prizes. Tickets are $20, and all proceeds go towards the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society.

Wednesday

Smut Slam is transforming Gulbar into a daring storytelling party filled with stories you’d never hear on a traditional stage. Submit a story anonymously, get on stage and read it yourself, or stay seated in the audience and enjoy listening to people’s personal stories. This 18+ show starts at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

Thursday

This week kicks off the Artifact Small-Format Film Festival, a celebration of analog cinema featuring movies shot on Super 8 and 16mm film. Hop from Festival Hall to Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers to Contemporary Calgary for unique shorts, director Q&As and a grainy, rough take on storytelling. Tickets are $12.06 for night one, which runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Friday

Join The Kinkonauts for their new play, To Be or Not To Be Determined, that imagines what “Shakespeare would have intended had he lived for another 400 years.” This improv performance features kings, queens, jesters, and grave diggers, all trying to figure out what happens next. Whether you’re a Shakespeare enthusiast or you only know him because your high school forced you to, this event is full of laughs and fun for everyone. The show runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $16.50 for general; $11.30 for students and artists.

Saturday

Don’t miss a legendary part-concert, part-storytelling experience showcasing Nirvana’s rise to fame at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. Starting at 7:30 p.m., hear recording artist El Niven dive into the history and grunge takeover courtesy of the legendary band. Expect big riffs, loud sounds, and a hint of nostalgia for your flannel-wearing fans who never left your “angsty teen” phase. Tickets range from $54.20 to $90.35.

Sunday

Finish off your week with some high-intensity sports courtesy of the Best of the Rest Volleyball Tournament. This event is bringing teams from all across Canada (and beyond) to the Ace Athletic Centre from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Whether you’re watching from courtside or in the game, expect intense rallies, back-to-back matches, and plenty of team spirit.
