Monday

This week, NVRLND Arts Foundation and Silent Soul Studio invite Calgarians for a behind-the-scenes look into Coloured Skin, a deaf-led film currently in development. Combining mask performance, physical theatre and visual storytelling, this film will explore the experience of Scout, a racialized deaf person navigating the world. Drop in anytime between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. for a glimpse into the creative process.

Tuesday

Lace up your running shoes and take on the Calgary Tower 802 Challenge. Each Tuesday in March the Calgary Tower opens up its massive stairwell with 802 steps up to the tower’s observation deck. It’s $12 to take part, so grab your wallet – and your inhaler – for a fun fitness challenge.

Wednesday

Newcomers to Calgary have a great chance to meet some artistic friends on Wednesday at Sparrow Artspace’s Artist Trading Cards event. Make your own 2.5 x 3.5 inch artworks and trade them with your fellow artists. It’s a great way to meet likeminded people, and it’s free with registration!

Thursday

Sometimes a single moment can change everything, and that’s the idea being explored in Single Drop, a dance theatre piece coming to the GRAND this Thursday. Watch a group of skilled dancers rapidly move between chaos and control in this thought-provoking piece. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Friday

For improv with a medieval spin, catch improv group The Kinkonauts show Infinite Jesters this Friday. With scenes that may turn deep or dark (but still funny), this show has a fun new spin on your classic improv romp. Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

Pick up a new hobby this weekend at Alberta Craft Gallery’s Beginner Linocut Workshop. You’ll learn the fundamentals of this classic printmaking technique, and take home your own set of four handmade greeting cards. The workshop has two timeslots, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and tickets cost $55.

Sunday

If movie trivia is usually too niche for you, try your hand at The Confluence’s Family Movie Trivia Showdown this Sunday. From 90s favourites to current hits, it’s a good time for casual movie watchers and film buffs. It’s $25 per team, and there’s no limit on size, so assemble your family and friends for a chance to win.
