Monday

Stretch your dobbing hand and get ready for a night of laughter and lip-syncs, because Monday brings another round of Drag Bingo at Dickens, hosted by Lilith Fair. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 plus tax and cover your first bingo card.

 

Tuesday

Casey & Diana opens at Alberta Theatre Projects on Tuesday, showcasing the moving story of Princess Diana’s 1991 visit to the Casey House AIDS hospice. Seize your chance to see it for cheap on opening night with pay-what-you-can tickets. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and the box office opens at 6:30 to snag your seats.

 

Wednesday

If you feel like being a ‘Beeroisseur’ is your calling, then check out Prairie Dog Brewing’s Beer 101 event on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Learn about the brewing process and key ingredients, and hone your palette with the guided tasting flight. Tickets are $25 plus tax.

 

Thursday

Yarn enthusiasts unite over at Burn Block Social Club on Thursday for another week of their “Pints and Purls” knitting and beer club. Bring your own work in progress, or work on a community project to donate to those in need. It’s free to attend, and as a bonus, regulars are eligible for 10 per cent off over at STASH Needle Art Lounge.

 

Friday

Lovers of revenge thrillers are in for a treat on Friday at The GRAND with the Calgary premier of 3 Cold Dishes, a Pan-African flick following three women seeking revenge on the men who trafficked them as teenagers. Along with the movie, there’s live poetry from Nigerian-South African poet aloT of Poetry, authentic West African food from BUKA, and a lobby full of Black-owned market vendors. Tickets are $15, doors open at 5 p.m. and the performance runs from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m..

 

Saturday

It’s Bottlescrew Bill’s 31st annual Beerfest on Saturday. From 2 to 5 p.m., sample from over 30 breweries with more than 80 of their finest brews. Tickets are $45 and include 15 sampling tickets; additional tickets are available for $2 each.

 

Sunday

Most graduation ceremonies are a drag, but not the FunnyFest comedy workshop graduation showcase. Catch the comedic talents of the new grads and two hilarious headliners. Tickets are $15, doors open at 4 p.m., and the show kicks off at 5.
