Calgary Pride officially kicks off this week! Did you know we moved our celebration from June to August for better weather? You can learn more in our August issue, which has tons of Pride coverage.
Here’s a quick schedule for you: check out the ‘Tism & Drag” fundraiser at Tool Shed Brewing on Tuesday, the They Got Talent Pride Ball at Dickens on Wednesday, and Trivia hosted by Visa DeKline at Texas Lounge on Thursday. Dance the night away at Twisted Element on Friday, recover on Saturday afternoon at the Centre for Sexuality’s Pride Brunch on Saturday, and rally for the epic Pride Parade on Sunday, which marches from downtown to Prince’s Island Park for a full day of family-friendly, free events. Check Calgary Pride’s website for the parade route and a complete list of programming.
There are many other cool things to do this week beyond Pride. This Monday is the last Punk Rock Sing-Along this summer at The Ship and Anchor, and they’re also doing a retro arcade night inside simultaneously! Whether you want to play Zelda or yell Dead Kennedy’s songs, The Ship has you covered.
Lina’s in Inglewood is teaching the secrets of making amazing at-home pizza this Wednesday. A $70 ticket includes one glass of wine, a charcuterie board for snacking, pizza dough, and toppings to make your 12″ pizza dessert. Tickets go fast for this, so don’t wait!

That same day, head over to Century Downs for Corn Stock! It’s an all-ages event full of pony rides, corn husking competitions, corn hole tournaments, corn carrying races and more.
And then, wrap up the weekend on Sunday at the Beyond Borders Indonesian Festival at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. Experience the vibrant colours and flavours of Indonesia right here in Calgary. And best of all, it’s free!
