Imagine eating nachos and enjoying an intimate beer while wrestlers suplex each other feet away. This dream becomes a reality this Tuesday at Brickwell Taphouse on Centre Street. Wild Rose Wrestling sets up a ring in the middle of the bar for Battle At The Brickwell 10 – The Revenge, sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon. Grab tickets on Eventbrite now!

Canad’as Drag Race winner Queen Priyanka brings her Devastatia Tour to Sweet Loretta this Tuesday with support from special guests. Doors open at 7, and you can grab tickets at sweetlorettabar.ca.

Enjoy a double-hit of Stephen King terror this Wednesday with Terror at the GRAND. The Grand is hosting a double screening of The Shining and Doctor Sleep in partnership with the Calgary Underground Film Festival. Grab a cocktail and a pizza slice from Portland Street Pizza‘s pop-up at this inaugural annual event. Doors open at 5, and you can see one movie for $15 or both for $25. I love both flicks, so I’d recommend staying all night!

Also on Wednesday is Talespin Trivia’s annual horror movie edition of Six Degrees of Movie Trivia. And if you like the sounds of my voice, you’re in luck because I happen to be one of the co-hosts of this! Entry is only $5, and we have some seriously spooky minigames on deck. I always do a question on John Carpenter’s The Thing, so there’s an excuse to watch it!

If you’re looking for some raucous good times on Halloween Night, head over to The Plaza for a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Fun fact: I played Eddie in a production of the show at Mount Royal University, so I’m a bit biased, but I think this will be a hell of a time. Audience participation and costumes are encouraged, with prop bags available at the door. Let folks know if it’s your first time doing the Time Warp!

Congress Coffee Company is hosting its monthly El Faro Flamenco Tablao event this Friday, and it’s the perfect way to move into November. It’s a fiery night of improvised live music featuring local and visiting flamenco performers alongside new and emerging artists! El Faro takes place on the first Friday of every month, and tickets start at $20. Did I mention it’s all ages?

Also on Friday is Queer Garden: A Magical Evening of Music at the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall at the Calgary Central Library. The lineup includes SallieMae, Lanice Chep, Damase Elis, and ZENON. Queer Garden is also partnering with the Affirming Media Conference at the library, and attendees to the Conference will receive free tickets to this event.

There’s an egg-punk throwdown shaking up The Palomino on Saturday. Perrrra, Brass Lip, Bugswallow, and Calgary’s kissiest sweethearts Smoocher are ripping up the stage with unstoppable hooks and punk rock weirdness. Doors open at 8, bands start at 9, and tickets are only $15 in advance. No jerks allowed!

Festival of Crafts takes over the BMO Centre in Stampede Park all weekend, offering the chance to get a headstart on your Christmas gift list with locally crafted goods. More than 130 artisans offer curated textiles, jewellery, skincare products, and more. Last I checked, you could get advance tickets for only $4! Swing by festivalofcrafts.com for more information.

End the week with some wild Diwali celebrations. Tickets to Diwali Gala Night 2024 are on sale now. On Sunday, the Crown Banquet Hall will host DJ sets, delicious Indian Cuisine, singers, and dancers. All are welcome! Check Eventbrite for more information.
